Dispute Resolution Experience :

Sr Daniel Sum has served as a Quantum Expert in seven litigation and arbitration cases since 2010, bringing extensive professional expertise to dispute resolution in the construction industry. His role has encompassed case evaluation, preparation of Provisional, Joint, and Final Expert Reports, and support for court and arbitration hearings. He holds certificates from the Academy of Experts (Expert Training, 2008) and the Hong Kong Mediation Centre (Advanced Mediation Training, 2009).

Between 2008 and 2012, he acted as a factual witness in three arbitration cases for his former employer, involving quantum disputes on a major Kowloon Tong development. His responsibilities included preparing Witness and Supplemental Witness Statements, delivering oral testimony, and undergoing cross-examination by Queen’s Counsel and other legal representatives.

Since 2023, he has advised 2 cases in Hong Kong involving the nominated subcontractors in fitting-out and building services projects, guiding them through dispute resolution strategies leading to arbitration.

On 9 March 2026, he attained the title of Adjudicator under the Security of Payment Legislation and was subsequently listed as a Senior Adjudicator on the HKIS Panel of Adjudicators, thereby further strengthening his professional credentials in construction dispute resolution.
